If the MBA came with Lion or later pre-installed then do this: Clean Install of Sierra or El Capitan on a Clean Disk Restart the computer. You will then go through the setup process to establish the mac as your machine or install from backup which ever you choose. You must repartition the drive and remove all traces of the prior owner. When I clicked the Reinstall OS X button in the recovery screen I recieved a message telling me that my computer cannot be verified with apple. Then I got the bright idea to format my drive and do a clean install of Yosemite. I installed 10.10 successfully earlier today. It will simply install the original OS X that came with your machine. Im currently stuck in the CMD+R recovery partition. It will not ask for any sign in with your apple ID. Once this is complete I went to disk utilities and first re-erased the Mac SSD and then performed the OS X re-install from the recovery partition. In my instance it downloaded mountain lion. This will never be returned on Mac OS X, because a root control is created automatically if it doesn’t already exist the first time any non-root control is created in a window. In this case, instead of double-clicking on it, all you have to do is to right-click on the Application's icon, and then select the "Open" menu.
